I dunno my dudes, if my daughter told me her boss regularly got his kit off in the office, told sexual jokes all the time and asked her for specific details about her sex life I think I know whose side I would take.

But maybe I would give him the benefit of the doubt and assume she was just being a massive humourless snowflake. Perhaps I would tell her to keep going into the office and definitely not make a big fuss over probably nothing. It might harm his career. And after all, these behaviours never escalate into something much more dangerous, do they?

None of this is going to court. So it's hardly relevant.
My comment is relevant you shouldn't be sacked if the accusations are not true as @samale said above Mendy lost his career which was looking good at City over false accusations which were proven to be lies he will have lost millions in pay how can that be right.

Whatever happened to innocent until proved guilty.
While not a criminal offence to walk about with just a sock covering your kn*b it is gross misconduct, Mr Wallace has not denied these allegations.

His ill timed comments about middle aged women again not a crime but career ending.

The latest poor me video was not well received either, its clear he is poorly advised or not PR savvy he is destroying his career all by himself

Where did you get "Regularly got his kit off in the office" from?

As we are talking hypothetically If you had 4000 daughters that had worked with him and only 13 told you his behaviour was disgusting and the others didn't agree wouldn't you think that strange?

I'm happy to amend my "regularly" to "at least twice that we know about". It really doesn't impact upon the sense of my statement.

Running with your analogy, I think I would take the concerns of any of my family members seriously, especially if more than one of them made the same claims.

I'm not sure where the 13:4,000 ratio comes from but I'm sure you appreciate that going public with an accusation takes a lot of courage, visibility, and sufficient status/standing that a person can withstand the backlash and not be blacklisted. If you don't have even one of these things, you are unlikely to go public with an accusation, and even if you do, you are unlikely even to be noticed let alone listened to.

The fact that (mostly) men get away with this behaviour for so long is about abuse of power and the (correct) assumption that it would take years and years, and countless accusations, for anything to reach a critical mass whereby they are likely to be called out for it. I put it to you that people who knew of his behaviour would be in the thousands as a proportion of your 4,000, it's just that the majority were on short contracts and/or never had the voice to speak out. Most would have been extremely low-ranking in the power dynamic. You point to 13/4,000 but the fact that there are "only" as many as 13 accusers is pretty astonishingly high to my mind. If I had 1+ accusation (and counting) of sexual misconduct for every two years I had been in a job I'd be taking a pretty long hard look at myself.

Many years ago there was an instance where a chap in work was hauled in coz there was nude ladies in an email he was sent and someone seen it.
In the interview he was told he was likely having the sack.
The union official at the time was on the case and had the paper trail of the email traced....it originated from a director.
It was quashed there and then and brushed under their Hymalayan mountain range Axminster..

You'll be sacked if the accusations are supported by other people and not contested by the accused. And he hasn't contested any of them that I know of, just tried to play the man and not the ball. Which he has since walked back.

As I said, he can sue the BBC for wrongful dismissal. I'll wait.

I put it to you that it is amazing more of the 3,987 have not come forward if he is as bad as the 13 have made out?

I do wish people would read the full thread before posting -

So you saying I need to have watched a video of Greg Wallace himself making a (presumably) completely unverifiable claim in order to know what you're getting at? It's hardly a reliable source of data is it.

He has been doing MasterChef and spin offs for 20 years do you think his estimation of 4,000 is too high, ok playing devils advocate say its 2000 its still 13/1087 my point still stands.

The staggering reality of false accusations (in this particular case he may well be guilty as sin, I won't speculate) is that the accused has their career ended, potentially their entire life ruined and in some cases people (men) have chosen to end their lives over the backlash of being falsely accused of serious wrongdoings.

If he has broken the law he should be punished accordingly, if it's not criminal activity per se but grossly inappropriate then he should get some kinda comeuppance.

But if it turns out to be a case of 'I heard from my sister's boyfriend's second cousin's hairdresser's dog that he did this, that and the other so now I'll publicly smear him in a disgusting "hop on the latest bandwagon" movement' then the false accusers should be hauled over the coals, and very publicly at that.

I think he sounds crass and rude and very childish about sex and someone should have put him in his place long ago in regards to constant jokes about sex to the people he was working with. However, the latest one where an actress claimed that he ended her career in TV by 1) asking if models eat and 2) saying that being on the show will help her career is simply stunning. Having seen what models and actresses put up with in the industry every single one of them must have given up their careers by now if this is the level of discussion that breaks them. I was shouted at by a manager at work once...well we ended up yelling at each other...guess what I didn't stop work.

I guess you're arguing that 13/1087 is a standard rate. If this is the case, they why doesn't every man on TV have an accusation made by them by over 1% of all of the people they have worked with? There must be people who have worked with more people than Greg flippin' Wallace. I've worked with hundreds of people... no accusations I can think of.

I am not arguing any number is a standard rate.

I have checked and on Masterchef alone they start with 58 so over 20 years 4,000 is a believable figure especially when you also add all contestants on Master Chef Professionals, so again can you answer one question do you not find it strange only 13 of all the the people he has worked with over 20 years have come forward now, surely if telling dirty jokes and being a bit pervy was the norm and he saw no wrong in doing it he would have told these jokes in front of all contestants not just these 13!

58 amateur chefs compete in each season of MasterChef UK. The contestants come from a variety of backgrounds, including farmers, archaeologists, and musical directors
