It's all about context isn't it? I joke around with my female colleagues and vice versa saying things that we probably shouldn't, however it stays within the group. I wouldn't say that sort of stuff to someone who wasn't 'in on it'.

The problem with this case for me is why has it taken so long for these 13 women to come forward, why only from one group of women and so few complaints when you consider how many women he met, if he thought telling dirty jokes was norma surely he told them to all the people on the show not just these 13 off the professionals version.

No I agree, it's a bit odd.

Possibly because when making accusations against ‘The Talent’, there’s a very high chance that people will just pass it off as ‘a bit of banter’.

Meanwhile the accuser gets painted as a trouble maker and is hounded out of the industry.

Why come forward now? Because he’s no longer in that position of power.
 
Playing devils advocate here. Most if Saville ey al victims didnt come forward until the story broke
Because they thought they wouldn't be believed, these women are professionals in if they had come forward at the time I am sure they would have been believed and there would have been an investigation .

This is my viewpoint that is the real world.
Most of my colleagues have what is called "banter" but if they are not in that group it is not said.
Luckily the majority of my work colleagues have a sensible head and know where to go and where not to it is becoming a bit silly and as I have said some ordinary folk could lose their jobs over flippant remarks.
Ps the majority of my work colleagues are female or should I say identify as female to be PC.
May I say if they are becoming pervy that is a no go and would be told so.

The problem is it’s not in anybody’s interest to believe them.

If there’s a problem with the Talent, then the show gets cancelled, everyone is unemployed and then struggles to find other employment because they’re toxic.
 
This is being discussed on 5live as I type this, one bloke said if every person who told a dirty joke in female company 20 years ago was to be hauled up Infront of the management and sacked the country would grind to a fault.

The problem in this current climate is that if you fall out with one of the people in the group and they claim you said offensive things you run the risk of the same thing happening (in theory) as nowadays if someone says it happened it sticks no matter if your found to be not guilty
 
While there are no criminal issues at this point there are moral, ethical and acceptability issues at play
But i think we are all missing an important issue here.
Wallaces value to the media.
Wallace has no value to those who control the media. Therefore they will influence how he is portrayed and will set the parameters for his trial by media in order to make profit.
If a person had value other than selling copy or viewing numbers the story would have run but would be very much dumbed down.
 
I'd a work colleague, always joking, with no filters. Everyone loved working with him, plus he was super at his job. A female colleague had a job to do with him. He did his usual comedy act and she laughed along. Later it was discovered that she'd made a mistake in her work and was called out on it. She immediately threw him under the bus, claiming she'd felt uncomfortable with his sexual innuendo and was distracted from doing her work. Unfortunately because she'd made the complaint it had to be investigated by HR and he was demoted from his position. The same lady it turned out, although married was having a secret affair with another married colleague. Her moral compass didn't stretch that far , but she was happy enough to ruin someone's career to escape being challenged for her poor work.
It's all great fun until it's not.
As a manager if you're aware of it and it blows up, you'll also be under the same bus with him. It's sad but unfortunately to protect yourself , it can't be tolerated in a workplace anymore.
Political correctness gone mad, but if you value your career, then you have to play by HRs rules.
 
Some iffy stuff is coming out now, it is alleged he spilt something on his trousers and a young female staff member started to wipe it off he grabbed her round the back of the head and started grinding his hips as if she was hiving him ********, another one was he ran into a room naked apart from a sock on his dick, I think we can safely say more like this is going to surface and he is finished as he cannot prove it's untrue.

As a very young manager who did a live in job with a number of people aged 18-25, I made a very poor decision when someone reported something to me. Ironically, I'm still friends with her and she doesn't hold it against me. I did the right thing in that I moved it upwards to our HR director, but I also arguably took his side in the hearing because I couldn't believe he could do something like that. They were also in a relationship which I'd already suggested wasn't a great idea.

Taught me a lot of life and managerial skills, something my management training at the time never taught me.
Now, we're taught to look out for everything and anything like this.

I genuinely thought this skeleton might come back to haunt me at one stage. It was one of those where the papers would have had a field day.
