Being able to precisely control the temperature and recirculate the wort means you can just leave the mash and get on with something else for an hour. The grain basket makes sparging a lot more straightforward too, I guess. All the steps are there though, just a lot less cleaning at the end of the day.
I was quite tempted when I was upgrading, small footprint etc. The reviews of the biab starter kit - about 1 degree lost in an hour mash with the help of blankets helped swayed me and I can always use it as a hlt if I u grade further. I generally sanitise my fv, measure my hops and rehydrate my yeast while mashing.
