The problem might be that the state school system offers a poor standard of education.

Or they choose to go in a different direction, plenty of well heeled entrepreneurs have come from a working class background. Perhaps they have the foresight that they can make more money elsewhere than going into law or politics. Or they were just not academically smart. It would be a poor state of affairs if we removed reward for hard work and innovation.
Take away the incentive for those people to do well, then you take away the millions of jobs for those they employ.

Plenty of working class people have set up a small business as sole traders a few of these go on to employ a few people.
On a national scale that equates to quite a bit of total employment.

But the real big boys such as Branson et al remain a very rare phenomenon.

Working class British people find it hard to access capital.The idea has to be absolutely outstanding.

Paul Fireman started his business with$50, net worth now over $1 Billion.There are thousands of business, who just started small and built up their business without resorting to going cap in hand to the bank. Show a bank good trading figures and they are more than happy to give a business loan.

Well as a former small business man myself i got nothing out of the banks until that is i went into partnership with a multi millionaire.
Then as far as the bank was concerned the sky was the limit.

As a result instead of scraping about in the dirt for the first time i made some real money.
Not millions but more than i had ever seen.

Its a well known problem amongst business organizations even the CBI moans about it.We in Britain are just not enterprising enough with capital.

Depends on the economic climate too, first time I went to the bank for a business loan was to ask for $5,000. The bank manger said lets make it $15,000, no financials or collateral needed. That wouldn't happen now.

Branson isn't working class and I don't think he's any kind of role model having been jailed for tax evasion. And persists in using complicated off-shore trusts.

He may not have been working class but he is a self made man. Wouldn't have mattered if he was one of the elite or working class, he was always going to make it, When was he jailed?
