Hey,

I'm using brewmate and wish to add Golden Syrup as a fermentable. Anyone have any ideas on the following:
- Potential extract
- colour (SRM)
- colour (EBC)

I can't find anything in the google, can probably guess the rough amounts but would rather get it right.

Thanks :)

Beersmith has that down as a Potential of 1.036, Yield of 78.3% and Colour EBC of 0.

Hope thats of some help.

That's fantastic, thank #you much fuzzy

What's the effect on flavour? I used this in a barleywine (as fermentable sugar to save on malts) and got some bubblegum flavour, not sure if to attribute it to the syrup.

i would say the bubblegum usually comes from the yeast used (belgian)- but simple sugars and higher temps can definately draw out more of this flavour from most yeasts

The Beersmith website has both sucrose and invert sugar as 1.046. So where does 1.036 come from?

if you try to add golden syrup to a recipe when using beersmith, as its one of the ingredients that pre programed into my version, thats what it comes up with, wasn't saying it was right just what the software said. ;-)

I am also interested in the answer to this - can anyone advise?

Thanks
