Have to say, I'm having such good results from kits by tweaking the fermentables a bit and doing hop teas and dry hopping (thanks to the excellent advice from the good people in this forum), that it's going to take a lot to persuade me to go to anything else.

If it's working for you and you're happy with the results :thumb:

yeah, this! despite having full all grain and extract brewing capabilities in this house, my dad still insists on brewing kits  you gotta do what works for you!

I've done extract brews in the past, though I've only just returned to homebrew recently and I'm putting a few kits through first again, just to get much of the process well-oiled again (and my dry-hopped Wherry is tasting very good!).

I don't understand why buying the raw ingredients costs quite a bit more than buying a kit, in the UK at least. Up here, a Muntons kit costs not very much more than a tin of Muntons extract. By the time you add yeast and hops, its more than, even using just 1oz of hops per brew.

Is it?

I priced up an old, simple, bitter on our sponsor the Malt Miller's website, with 2 to 3oz Fuggles, 1.5oz Goldings, 3KG (2x1.5Kg packs) LME and 12oz crystal malt and added the cost of a sachet of Gervin or other Nottingham yeast, and it came in under £20 when I factored in the carry-over in the quantities of hops and crystal malt which I'd use in the next brew or two - even including postage, I think.

The 2 kits arrived today but still no pot so will have to wait 'till the weekend to have a dabble. Read the instructions that are in the Boddingtons kit & looks fairly straightforward so fingers crossed !!.

Just got my pot and 2 extract kits so tomorrow i will be doing my first extract kit.

Nice, what's the kits? Did the come with instructions? Let me know if you have any questions, on my 13th or so extract so should hopefully be able to help :thumb:

got a old speckled hen and a banks bitter. I did get instructions im just hoping all goes well going the speckled hen first.

I did the BrewUK Tettnang Tiger lager extract kit. It's fantastic! I'm not a lager drinker but this is great. I put a review in the kit review forum.
I'm now hoping to replicate it as an AG now that I'm set up for BIAB. It will work out much cheaper that way.
