Don't worry Mick it's direct sunlight that's the issue.

Better safe than sorry though so the boxes won't go wrong :)

Scott is right Direct sun is the problem but any lengthy exposure will cause a problem eventually. They are fine for cider, cider doesn't have any problems associated with hops and beer.

I managed to get some bottles of that weird root beer stuff, I think it's called jimmy s or something like that, anyway my wee corner shop was selling them for a pound each as they went out of date in a couple of days, so I bought the lot, there was only 15 or something but I was glad to get the bottles, they're dark brown 500 ml but feel pretty tight for the capper, they work none the less though so I'm happy with that, just wish he had more.

ok here we are have selected 2 bottles at random for 2nite...
one green glass ....

the other brown plastic pet bottle...
this was bottled on the 16th of feb ... :thumb: ..

I stick to glass brown bottle, both 500ml and 330ml. Luckily in my job there are plenty available and I do like to vigorously research the beers that are out there.

hi Hirsty .. :thumb: .
id like all brown bottles....
but there not very easy for me to get ...

so i get what i can and have to make do.... .

regards mick... :hat: .

I am kind of lucky that I have ready access to brown glass bottles. Anything within reason will do as long as it is sterile and not exposed to direct sunlight (as said above).

Hang in there mick it might get better, that's strange though cos my one was nice right from the get go, it looks very carbed, I'm wandering if this could have anything to do with it (is this the coopers stout?)

Yeah mine is a bit different. I don't have big bubbles like yours. It's well carbed enough, and the head lasts pretty much till the end, but the bubbles are smaller.

I just hope it's gonna turn out braw mick, I feel a bit gutted for yi cos you've put so much effort in, if it makes you feel any better my London porter that was bottled the beginning of jan, I think, has only just started tasting good, remind me of your sg and fg mick.

no worrys it is what it is ...
i do feel dissapointed but such is life...

my fg was 1.050...
and the last was 1.010...

At 1.050 if you stuck to the rough guide next sat would be your 5 weeks waiting time up, so I'd wait till then before you judge it, I know it sounds daft but I've had beers that gradually get better over time and others that seem to stay not so pleasant for a long time then bosh, overnight they seem better

Sorry to hear your disappointment Mick, I know hoe disheartening it can be. But keep at it & hope it gets better in the next 4 weeks
