I've got a Geordies Yorkshire bitter kit brewing with 1kg of beer enhancer insted of sugar and 200 g of dextrose to give it a bit more of a kick. My hydrometer has a potential alcohol scale on it and it read around 6.5% how likely is it that it will get that strong ? Thinking i should have not bothered with the dextrose!
Has anyone had any experience with these kits. they seem to be in all the shops so I'm guessing they are popular.

If I remember right the bitter isn't too bad, a little on the thin side but drinkable.

I'd take the scale with a pinch of salt, always go by the start and finishing gravities and use the SITE CALCULATOR to work out the abv%. Don't bottle it until its had time to clean its self up after about 10 days and the reading is under 1015sg

Happy brewing Sean

Hi Wolverine, I'm on my third Geordie brew (lager) and have just started drinking the one that I added Beer Enhancer to and it's great, okay not as good as the AG boys make but decent enough for my palate.

My opinion is try different kits to see what you prefer, Coopers are really good but a little more expensive.

Have fun

Colin
