Hi all, I did an Irish ale late November and its just not clearing. I'm thinking of trying gelatin for the first time. When I google gelatin I get all sorts of results. Beef, pork, chicken plus others. I have an amazon voucher to use on my prime account so I've got free delivery. Can anyone suggest what I need exactly please.

The easiest stuff to use is sheet gelatin. You can buy it at the supermarket, usually in the baking aisle, Dr Oetker brand.

My instructions are as follows:
1. Take 2 sheets, put in a little cold water in a bowl (you might need to cut them in two to fit, that's fine, just don't cut them up any more or a later step will be hard!)
2. Separately put 200ml boiling water in a sterile container.
3. Let it cool to under 80c.
4. When it gets to 70-80c then take the gelatin sheets out of the cold water and drop in the hot water. They should almost instantly dissolve, but give it a bit of a stir just to help.
5. Pour in to top of beer and give it a little mix in.
6. Leave beer cold for a couple of days.

Where do you get yours from? And which brand. Does it matter about beef, pork or chicken

Just use regular old gelatin, which is usually made from pigs and/or cows.

Chicken gelatin is primarily produced as a halal/kosher product for those that cannot consume pork/beef. I guess it would probably still work though as the key is the collagen, but if you need to avoid some meat by products then you're best off buying Brausol instead which is vegan friendly.

It’s just from Tesco. This one:

Is it better to understand why it's not clearing and then rectify it?

Only ask cos I am not sure gelatin is a cure all?
