Dear all, sorry if this is an old chestnut, but I am getting desperate looking to source red wine grapes, or fresh juice in the UK. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance and best wishes
yes exactly! Thanks. But I see looking at your postings you are an advocate for supermarket juices. I may come to that, but before I do I am hoping for some traditional wine grapes. all the best
Its not something i have seen discussed but one member @tonyhibbett uses sultanas and raisins in many of his wines so may have some info for you, he should pick this up when he next visits..
Thanks for your help! I see in the US that there are suppliers providing a wide range of grapes and imported grape juices - like this: https://www.piwine.com/grapes-juices.html
I would love to experiment here with something like this. All the best
Oliver
I get the feeling that in the UK we shouldn't try and make a great wine from imported grape concentrate as even the British wine industry that does this is not in the same league as the some of the major producers.
What we are good at is things like Somerset Cider, so maybe we should try and brew to suit our location?
I'm not saying it is impossible, just it seems unnecessarily hard to achieve.
I hope to find a red wine recipe that equals a good shiraz but uses local ingredients, such as red carrot, beet, beetroot or similar. Maybe I'll make this my life quest
