Sorry to be the first to say it DHB, but what sort of responsible person has a relatively open coop when they know there are foxes in the vicinity :nono: :nono: ....tbh I'm quite annoyed that animals suffered due to your incompetence !
You can't blame the foxes for your own irresponsibility, you gave them the chance and they took it....fair play to them.
I have 4 chickens and live on a urban/country divide. I've watched foxes on top of the coop trying to get in all to no avail....a simple latch lock for £1.25 foiled them...and during daylight hours the dachs keep guard

Cheers vossy i thought i was pretty tight to be honest but the latches got loose over time i guess i have over 200 chickens for egg production but those little rare breeeds were my favourite birds oh well still got 2 of them in the garden mother and chick hatched it ages ago both hens though so a new cock is in order

We all learn from our mistakes DHB. Foxes are canny buggers, that's why they're so successful.

Yes, they're vermin, (despite what you see on BBC springwatch etc) pack of hounds are more effective :!: We're losing more lambs than ever up here since the hunting ban
I read an article recently about lamb production in the U.K, nearly 20% of all Lambs are rendered down to be burnt in power stations because supermarkets in conjunction with farmers want to keep the price of lamb at an artificially high level...(I'm not saying that's what you do BC) We then import New Zealand lamb under the pretence we can't meet demand :hmm:

I could never do that ever to any of my lambs =( got white faced dartmoors the new rams got lit horns they are fluffy aswell
