Not sure why mine was ever taken away

The mod team upgraded members to lifetime supporting membership without discussing it with the then forum owner (not the current one) as we thought it a good way of paying members back for helping others, maybe the new owner saw all the lifetime members who had not paid and decided to withdraw supporting membership. (this is only a guess as its never been discussed)

Read the thread! It's already answered!
‘Financial commitments and PayPal whims’ doesnt really answer my question? I’m not trying to stir things up I’m genuinely curious why PayPal is a no-no for some people?

Personally I have opened a couple of disputes now with them and got my money back acheers.

And that's the problem for me with PayPal. Anyone can make a claim and the seller gets hit. One of our businesses relied on PayPal and some dodgy buyers would make fake PayPal claims and we would have funds withdrawn from our bank account with no way of discussing it PayPal

Not that it makes any difference to me but that is pretty ******

As I said it was done without discussing it with the owners the new owner wouldn't have known we had gifted these memberships and probably thought it was a glitch with the software, the forum costs a lot of money to run and that's why the original owners sold it any money they get from "supporting members" helps keep it going and its members choose whether to donate or not.

Genuine question out of curiosity... why are you anti PayPal?

For me it was been woken up by numerous text messages early one morning when my account had been hacked. loads of transactions before I could get through to them. When I eventually did they were anything but helpful. I did get my money back but I also was told I could never use my email again to set up an account with them. So I haven't and never will.

sure, used to useit to buy and sell on a private personal website as well as ebat and gumtree, as you have to link aan account or card to it, we started to lose money due to unautherised refunds and account deductions without reason. ended up about £600 out of pocket by their withdraws from my account, took them to small claims and won, they decided then that they dont abide by uk laws and ignorred it, was offered by the county court judge the posibiltty to do a baliff on them but thats even more money down the drain and very little you can claw back off them, ended up £800 out of pocket and had to close the bank account down and report them to the bank and the police for criminal theft as even then they still kept taking money, slaughtered my credit rating and logged loadsof complaints andmoney issues against me and yet lost a ccj and wont pay,

to me they are the biggest scumbag criminals ever and every one of them and most of the ebay managers want a kenny everett solution to them.

ashock1 Wow

Yet you still expect other people to use it on your behalf. Surely, after your experience you should be encouraging us all to boycott it

No , i am a grown adult, just because bad things happen to me does not mean the happen to others,

In fact i am sure more people here love paypal than hate it.

If i can send my pennies via someone else and their good experiences then fair play. Quite willing to bypass paypal completley and send Angie a birthday card with the $16 dollers inside it and with postage it will cost a lot more than direct , but i am willing to pay the extra to not use paypal, again as a grown adult its at my own costs to decide whats the best options

Post removed. (again)
HP has explained why he doesn't use PP but as its the only option (other than to send money to Angie in America) he has had to ask members to help, he has explained that he had a bad time with PP and that he is probably in a minority so again (as i said earlier) if you are not willing to help don't post.
(especially if you are trolling)

many thanks to kelper and Angie and Chippy for sorting it all out for me.

same time next year then?
