What's it like with volcanic fermentation? Wouldn't it get pushed up against the lid with the Krausen? How do you clean it?

Clean with a soft cloth, dunk in star san. Infection is not an issue.

Volcanic fermentation will be an issue.

Volcanic fermentation is and isn't an issue. See the image which is a from a pretty aggressive ferment (on an uncalibrated iSpindel)
Yes the readings jump around as can be seen by the spiky bits on the graph but that's pretty useful as you can see the fermentation is peaking.
The smoother parts of the graph (at the start and end) are where fermentation is starting/finishing.

The flat part at the end is where fermentation has finished

130 for a tilt or one of these for 30, no brainer.
They work very well with brewfather (click my signature) and even better under pressure as the krausen is much smaller, which is the enemy of these devices.

I have no way of getting internet in my shed, so I had to go for a tilt as I had an old ipad I could Bluetooth from.. Very happy with it although is a


rip off compared to these.
