Hi there

I have started my very first home brew ever on Monday, I made a simple turbo cider as it seemed the be the very least complicate brew I could find.

About an hour after I pitched my yeast she started bubbling, by the following day she was bubbling every 2 seconds but by yesterday evening she slowed down to one bubble say every ten seconds.

My question is, is this anything to worry about or am I just being paranoid? should she have slowed down this soon?

Any help would be really appreciated.

Chris

TC seems to rapido through fermentation at the start, partly why it's called that I think !

I've just came back from dinner with my wife and noticed its slowed right down to one 'glub' about every 20 minutes now after approximately 3 and 1/2 days. :-?

Did you take a hydrometer reading before you pitched your yeast? I'm not sure what final gravity to expect from Turbo ciders but a starting and finishing reading from a hydrometer will let you know how its going and what sort of ABV you will have. Temp drops or fermentation nearly finishing are the two most likely causes, I'm sure its nothing to worry about.

Every cider I've ever made finished at 1.000 so that would be a good target 😀

I didn't  Hadn't quite figured out how to use it so just decided to skip that step, I've found the calculator on here so will make use of it in the future and put that down to a rookie error lol

I don't think the temp has dropped really, I've had he demijohn wrapped in a fleece blanket so it could just be finished fermenting I suppose. It was really going for it the last two days and over the course of today its really slowed down.

Should I just wait for the bubbles to stop completely and let it clear then bottle it?

I'm not gonna worry but I would probably be a little disappointed if it fails lol

Thanks for all the help btw

Hydrometer is pretty simple to use, even for me !

If you have one, take a sample and post up the pic if you need a pointer about what it's saying

I bottle mine as soon as it gets to 1.000 and it's still cloudy then but clears/carbs up in the bottle and ends up clear as crystal (so long as there's pectolase in a the start, but that's another story hehe)

Thanks man :thumb:

thats still completely alien to me though haha

I'm gonna watch a youtube video tonight explaining how to read and use them in preparation for my next brew

I'm not too worried about my TC now though, it still seems to be fermenting, just very slowly lol seem to be getting a good 'glub' about every 10 minutes now.

My first brew has been fairly nerve wrecking to say the least but I think this is something I'd like to continue with

Thanks again for all the help everyone :thumb:
