Hi,
I had a second fermentation bin that i thought i would fit a tap to it as it was the type that originaly did not have one.
I purchased the Youngs quick serve plastic tap as shown in photo below.
I cut out a 25mm hole & cleaned up the edges with a small nail file.
Fitted the tap, seal & back nut & then give the bin a good clean to wash away the small bits of plastic from drilling etc.
I filled it with water about 2 inches above the tap to check for leaks & all ok.
This morning when i looked at it i noticed a drip of water below the tap.
It is coming from where the beer would be poured from.
I washed out the barrel once again should a piece of plastic be in the tap hole but all ok.
There is still a small drip, not much but how or what should i do ?
Replace the tap or will it be ok.
Would this cause a bubble to go up through the tap into the brew ?
Any advice would be nice.

Just a thought, but the lever part comes out. Has it been seated properly? You need to press it all the way until it stops on the ridge. As for bubbles. I very much doubt it.

Good morning.
Are you saying pull up on the lever to remove it from the body iteslf, then press it back in.

Sometimes these taps can leak when thh handle is in the completely closed position. Try moving the handle off the closed position a bit (itstead of it being at the 1 o'clock position make it more 3 o'clock, if you follow me?)

I have another on the way to replace this item.
I can say that i did have it 100% shut at 3 0 clock.
If i rotate the lever so it is nearly pointing at you then the fluid starts to flow.
I will try it somewhere in between.
I will let you know the outcome.

yeah they are strange taps somewhere inbetween off and on seems to work best i think it has to do with the rubber seals

This tap in question is the quick serve lever tap not the drum tap.
The only seal with either tap is where the tap fits through the hole in the bin.
There is no seal inside either tap.

Below is a Youngs quick serve tap.

With the tap in the position shown above it leaks.

With the tap in the position shown above it is fine & no leaks

POURING.jpg

With the tap in the position shown above it will start to pour the brew.

Picture 1 is the off position but leaks.

Picture 2 is also in the off position and no leak present.

Picture 3 is where the beer would start to flow to pour your pint.
