Me: hmm I might have something worth entering this month.

*Sees Braindead has entered

Me: never mind...

@Braindead has been deducted 15 points in advance for writing ‘Return Addy Ann Summers *** Toys’ on a parcel that got delivered to the receptionist at my office!
That reminds me a time when I sent my brother money for a stag trip. I used 'gay ****' as the ref. He rang his bank thinking someone had taken a couple of hundred quid for gay ****. He was trying to explain to the lady that he hasn't purchased any gay **** when she said 'sir someone as given you money for gay ****

So that’s beers received from Leon, Udicko and Beercat with Braindead’s on the way. Has anyone else sent one or planning to do so?
I have had a crazy week so i haven't managed to get to the PO. When is the judging happening? I should get it there tomorrow but it wont arrive until early next week. No worries if your judging this weekend.

See post above. Judging tonight

We’re you going to send your smoked porter Hoddy? I actually had that in the Christmas swap

Results:

1st Braindead’s Maple Macaroon Stout
2nd Leon’s Milk Stout
3rd Beercat’s oatmeal stout
4th Beercat’s imperial stout

Dropped and smashed on my kitchen floor: Udicko’s Belgian quad aheadbutt

Some very good beers and a really nice range of different styles. I’ve typed up the feedback and will message you all now. Thanks to those who sent beers in, and apologies again to Udicko, in this case it’s medicko

For those interested my recipe is in my brewday thread and here is the feedback

Leon - milk stout Aroma - roast coffee and chocolate, leaning towards sweet. Hint of a fruity ester as it warmed. Inviting 8/10
Appearance - black with deep red highlight. Opaque as expected. Tan head formed of fine bubbles, faded fairly quickly. 2/3
Flavour - Clean fermentation, no off flavours detected. The roast flavours are there up front but backed up by a lot of malty sweetness. No hop flavour detected but bitterness is right for the style, and not overdone given the dark malts. The finish has some sweetness but isn’t cloying, suggesting fermentation was good, the beer fully attenuated and this flavour comes from malt choice. 15/20
Mouthfeel - medium-high carbonation probably on the high end for a stout but helps balance the sweet finish. No astringency. 4/5

Overall - a really enjoyable and well made beer. Not overly complex but everything is as it should be for the style, this is something I would happily go back and drink a few of. 8/10
Total 37/50
