Ok results are in. First of all I would like to thank everyone for taking time to enter. Very wide range of beers and the standard at the top was very high. I had to split the beers over a few nights

As promised, here is the recipe for my Oatmeal Stout.

'Dark Matter' Oatmeal Stout
4.2%
Batch Size: 20L
OG: 1.048
FG: 1.016
IBU: 30
Mash Efficiency: 70%

Malts (all from Crisp)
Maris Otter - 3.25kg
Flaked Oats - 0.75g
Low Colour Chocolate - 0.5kg
Roasted Barley - 0.25kg
Crystal 240 - 0.25kg

Hops
Fuggles (Whole Leaf)
15g @ 60mins​
20g @ 30mins​
20g @ 10mins​
Yeast
Wyeast London Ale III - 1.00 million cells / °P / ml

Water Profile
200ppm Chloride
100ppm Sulphate

Process
Mash at 67°C for 60mins.
Ferment at 19°C, before raising for diacetyl rest.

The beer didn't attenuate quite as fully as intended (FG was expected to be 1.013). I suspect it may have warranted a slightly longer mash given the high proportion of specialty and unmalted grains.

I will give this a try. Funny I had an oatmeal porter from a local microbrewery recently. It was terrible. Is this recipe one that you have brewed before.

First time brewing this particular recipe. I've done a number of other stout styles before though so had some prior information to help develop it.

The intention was to create something smooth, flavourful and easy drinking. Think it hit the brief, other than the high FG which for me makes it a touch too sweet on the finish.

Have you entered it into any other competitions. Judging has made me have a good think about my own brew schedule.
