February 2023 competition - Dark beers

It's definitely a style that seems to sit between 2 of the competition categories - Dark and then British pales & bitters. What do others think? @Leon103?

Judges decision. Looks dark enough to me. It's not a 'to style' comp so shouldn't really matter

Yep. Whack it up to 60 psi and shake the hell out of it

Edit: oh, and don’t try to dispense it straight away

I did buy the bits needed to make a DIY version of the blichmann quick carb. Perhaps I will put it together and test it out on this beer.

Interesting. My approach is akin to @Benfleet Brewery . Set to 50psi and roll on the ground. It does always end up a bit overcarbed though, that's easy to fix.

Posted a couple of beers earlier today to you. The Milk Stout is very young but hoping it will be fine by the time you open it

I mean condition not carbonate. I leave most of beers at least 5 weeks sometimes longer

Received a fair few different styles already for this month's competition - brown ale, milk stout, porter, herfstbock, dunkelweizen, impy...

Good luck. Pretty hard category as so wide. Me if it is not black it isn’t dark but not many agree with me on that

At the risk of swaying results, scoring or feedback, I wouldn't call it conventional

I've received a "Made Up Stout" today but there are no details of the brewer. Anyone laying claim?

I think that makes 11 (!!) entries so we'll judge as many as we can on Saturday & I'll let everyone know if we need a 2nd night!
