Ive just finished my second racking of some elderflower wine i started before christmas, its still not clearing well, ive filtered it once am i doing something wrong? Im not sure whether the dried elderflowers i used to make it would have something to do with it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

What's the hurry?

Have you stabilised, de-gassed and used finings?

But you've tried filtering :wha:

Take a look at the WOW Guide. the second post, just under half way down. The basics of racking and clearing apply to any wine.

When you are sure fermentation has finished you rack your wine off its lees or sediment, and unless you want to make a fizzy wine or have a moral objection or physical intolerance to sulphites you should add a crushed Campden tablet. This will kill most of the yeast cells. If you add potassium sorbate 'wine stabiliser' that will prevent any which were merely stunned from reproducing and starting fermentation up again should you wish to sweeten your wine.

If you haven't stopped and stabilised your wine then the yeast cells are just going to keep looking for any remaining sugar molecules and clearing the wine will take longer.

You can either leave your wine to clear naturally, which might take a month or two, or you can hurry it up by using finings and clear it in a few days.

Wine filters are only for polishing clear wines, they won't remove hazes and will rapidly clog up if your wine is still cloudy, they aren't a short cut.
