Easy Keg 5L

I was comparing 2 x 10l pressure sprayers at £15 each with c.£70 for a used 19l Cornelius.

That's what I thought would be the case.

I'm interested in seeing if it would be possible to build a kegging "system" up using pressure sprayers - a mix of big and small vessels that allowed one to transfer beer around, under pressure, depending on needs. For example, having a couple of 10l kegs in the fridge with smaller 3l or 5l ones that could be used to take beer to parties. That would seem to have a few benefits to it.

It's a good point and one that would need to be looked into.

I doubt it will be something that is explicitly stated on these things as I doubt manufacturers expect people to put food in there. I also don't know whether there's a particular test that has to be met to call it food grade, which manufacturers wouldn't bother with, even if the plastic did otherwise meet requirements. As a starting point, I would expect the plastic to have a high level of chemical resistance since chemical spraying would be a potential usage. For similar reasons, I would expect dye usage to be low as that could otherwise react with chemicals. Hopefully it's possible to answer all those questions somehow.

It has excellent chemical resistant properties making it suitable for a wide range of foods and other products. For example, most juice or milk containers and five gallon food buckets are made from HDPE."​

So I found a 30 litre kitchen bin that was made from HDPE and successfully used it as an FV ... :thumb:

... right up until the piece of bin in my hand broke off as I moved it and I spilled 23 litres of wort all over the floor of the shed I was using at the time. :headbang:

What made matters even worse was that I had to watch while the wort ran through the gaps between the planks of the floor of the shed. It was one of those experiences that seemed to take ages but actually only lasted a few seconds.

It was enough to drive a grown man to drink! :sad1:

So Im thinking now of buying a 3 mini kegs for £8 quid each and a party deluxe tap for £50 from my local brew shop
So for £74 quid this would be all in still cheaper than buying the starter kits'

Is there a way of attaching a Cornelius quick connect to a mini keg? I ask because i came across these;

I have used the easy keg - but then upgraded to the mini growler with co2 dispenser I found it much more robust.

Bought my first keg of beer yesterday... it’s now empty so thought I’d try to take bung out.
Unlike they videos this isn’t a twist top, you just flip the lid to vent .

I’ve tried tugging at it but it won’t budge.

Is this reusable ?

It’s a Wainwright keg.

I have found the best way is to drill them out and hold on with a pair of needle nose pliers to the hung. Then just rinse the **** out and get some bungs. I use the grey ones with the middle insert.

Ta - not a recyclable bung then like the one in video Chippy posted above.

This is what I have, the postage is a pita but if you can find in a homebrew website you can combine. I did not buy from this site but can't remeber where.

I bought a few of those from Fruugo last year. I can confirm they worked with the supermarket mini-kegs I had, but don't know what the party star tap is.

Found out that Fruugo is just a 'marketplace' website like ebay and to a large extent Amazon these days. One of their traders is a home brew shop in Norfolk. I would build up your order a bit to get your money's worth out of the delivery charges.

I think it is, but I put the Center in upside dwon and just push in with another when needing to vent..also saves pressurised beer being fired everywhere... don't ask how I know
