Heard a piece on the radio about the lack of rainfall this year. They cited the crops most effected are Barley, wheat and hops with yeilds expected to very poor. So we can expect another price increase. Plus some areas can expect a hosepipe ban. Any one know a raindance.

d-r-o-u-g-h-t :wha:

Nope looked it up in the Welsh dictionary and there's no reference ;)

Having had a few holidays in Wales I guess you will be ok. The wife is watering the garden at the moment, using the water thats cooling my wort, but we have had almost no rain here for months. Even last weekend where we had rain at the sping thing it was dry here.

Its just started lashing down here, hope its stops soon as I need to wash the tun out on the patio

So what's new? :wha:

And we all know, as retail consumers, that what goes up never comes down :hmm:

We have enough water in Scotland to make up ANY shortfall in England's water supply, BUT for several reasons, the powers that be have blocked that...

Firstly, the cost of running pipelines is prohibitive, but in fact all you would have to do is get it far enough to feed into the rivers that feed reservoirs, but even that is no allowed for fear of introducing some water born insects, larvae - whatever - into an ecosystem where it's not normally found...

So, while England quite possibly may struggle with water supplies this year, Scotland has no such concerns

Of course, while we can brag about high water quality, and its ready availability, the down side is that it often feels like we never actually have a summer

BigYin I once went to Scotland and had quite high temps +2 or 3 and no precipitation to speak of, unfortunately it was in February and we went to ski! :) :)

One point they made was Cambridgeshire, which is a big Barley growing area had less rain in March and April than the Sahara desert.
