i was using a cloth to pick up the extract tin after putting some hot water in just to get the rest out, little did i know there was another cloth wrapped in it and it fell into the brew, quickly fished it out before it was submerged, just my f**king luck.

is this beer a goner now? or should i wait and see?

You could always heat it up again to about 75C (pasteurisation temperature). Or, if you've got a good yeast starter ready, chuck it in and risk it.

Other people have done similar on this forum and the beers been fine. A few brews ago my FV started pouring beer from around the tap seal and I had to put my unsanitised arm in to try and tighten the nut (didn't work - I'd cross threaded the nut when installing the tap). This was on bottling day. Quickly bottled it and the brew turned out fine.

Yep, unless you want to inoculate it with a fresh batch. Hope the the best. It'll probably be ok, but what a splendid excuse to get another batch on, just in case!
Agree, Sounds like a good enough excuse to put another brew on.athumb.. It's always worth taking a few readings before pitching. As @DavieC said, it may not be evenly mixed.

I'd leave it. Don't run the risk of further infection. Either way you're going to get what you're going to get. The fermentation itself will provide a stirring action, if that's what's needed, so forego the accurate reading and enjoy the beer when it's done.
Just done one myself, measured the OG, corrected for temperature and can't remember what it was!

Snap, just put a Pineapple TC on the go and forgot to take the OG before pitching the yeast, oops , oh well. As long as it turns out drinkable.
