I'm on my second batch of Abdij. The first one had 550g of Golden Syrup in the brew, OG 1.072 and finished at 1.018, 10 days at 25C and 3 days cold, then bottled. I checked, and others had reported typical 1.018-1.020. I like it very much.

My second batch (which was doubled up), OG the same 1.072, appears to have finished out at 1.020 after the same period. I've roused it and heated it up again for a couple of days, to make sure it's done. Hope that wont impact on the flavour too much.

But Brewferm cite 1.010. Has anyone ever got that, with any of their kits, with a normal brewlength and OG? :hmm:

Hi.

I've got their Ambiorix conditioning right now... sorry I don't remember the exact additions I made, but I'm sure it was 1kg of DME and approx 200g of table sugar I had lying around. It finished around the 1016 mark after about 18 days or so and refused to go any lower.

Thanks Tom. I guess your DME would have added a bit to the FG, which doesn't make my 1.020 look any better, though it's a different beer (albeit with the same Brewferm target FG) . It's been two extra days now so i will take a reading later and treat it as finished if it hasn't moved.

You could try adding a teaspoon of yeast nutrient and a gentle swirl? (That worked for a stubborn stout of mine!)

Thanks. I actually put some in at the start, just to be sure.

Added - I Just checked, after two extra days (Day 15 in total, though it was stood colder for three days, around 14-16C)

It looks like it may have moved a bit... now 1.018 (1.017 on a 20C Hydrometer at 24.5C). Was previously 1.020 (1.020 on a 20C hydrometer at 16C).

So I'll see in another two days, but I doubt it will end up at 1.010!
