Sterilisation is to me quite a strange term to me when most of us ( I assume ) use tap water to top up our buckets. There is nothing wrong with tap water but sterile it certainly is not.

  I would say sterilise everything that comes in contact with with your beer from fermenter onwards or you're asking for trouble, i spend about 7 hours making a batch of beer and i would certainly not be careless enough to lose all that cause i didn't sterilise, i never topped up my fermenter with tap water.
That's great DB i'm glad it works for you, i just don't think it's best practice. I've worked in some pretty manky factories over the years and i see no reason why bottling factories would be any better. Guess i just like to know my equipment is sterile and not just hope it is.derbyowl said:I understand your point AT, But I would have to say that I have bottled beer in pop bottles for 10 years and never had this a problem
