Waw. Thank you.And in 1st place, with a score of 44, is @Leon103 with a Dry Irish Stout.
Congrats to all that entered. All good beers. Was a pleasure to judge them. Thank you.
Waw. Thank you.
Was surprised the stout beat the pilsner. It's still quite young for how I prefer my stouts and the more I have been read Modern Lager Beer, thr more I think it's one of my best brews, along the lines of a old school German Pale Lager Beer, but will take 42 points any day of the week.
I will link both recipes when I jump on the computer, easier to jump across the tabs. Well done on those that entered and thanks for judging @phildo79
YesThese the two you sent me as well?
Aroma9/12Very clean. Hard to pick out anything too strong but light corn is evident. Aroma reminds me of Urquell. Not surprised the stout won, i'd be interested in what @phildo79 says about the pils, enjoyed it but thought there was something not quite right, think I mentioned diacetyl perhaps, some sort of sweetness, can't remember now.
Today's brew day was a pilsner.
Changed things up today with a docoction mash thrown in. For this I mashed at full volume 36l setting the temp to 50c for 20 minutes. I then removed 10l of the mash and boiled for 10 mins. This was added to the original mash to bring the temp up to 65c. Well that was the plan, it didn't hit 65c so had to heat it up, only for it to go way past 65c and then I had to cool again. After a 60 min mash I took another 10l and did another 10l boil. Again, this was re-added to the mash for a mash out at 75c.
All went well despite adding wheat instead of carapils. I was again well over my desired volume but at least in keeping with my efficiency. Does anyone know how to correct add docoction mash's to BeerSmith3?

@Hazelwood Brewery I will let you know when its ready to swap.
Perhaps left it a bit late but time for a Xmas stout. Gone with a dry Irish stout.
Nice easy brew day, about 4 hours in total, aided by the cold weather which brought chill time right down. Well over on my numbers getting just over an extra 4l. I had opened to serve this on Nitro but the wife is dead against another brewing item taking up the utility.

Appearance3/3Excellent. Clear with a fluffy head.
Flavour17/20This is very like Urquell. An outstanding clone, if that is what it is? But an excellent example of a pilsner.
Mouthfeel4/5Pretty good. Could be slightly more carbed.
Overall9/10Hard to fault this beer. A tough more carbonation, maybe. Excellent!
Total42/50
No diacetyl present from any other feedback. Perhaps some sweetness from the h.blanc hops.
Thank you. Need to see if any upcoming Comps to enter them in.Both beers were fantastic examples of their styles. Definitely enjoyed the stout just that little bit more and perhaps that, along with me being more of a stout drinker, swayed the points in its favour. But I would say very little tweaking is needed to polish both beers.
