As a small boy in the 70's, in Flanders, in a small rural village, I associated the beer then (mostly Stella Artois) with old men (farmers) in black clothes, at the café after mass, it never interested me.

Where abouts? I also grew up in Flanders (Tervuren), but in the 80s and 90s.

Leffinge, a small village with much farming around it.

After I could read, there were two things that always attracted my attention on the one restaurant that was there: "Duvel - Moortgat" and "Van Roy - Wieze"

I suppose it must have been that one for the Duvel. We are talking 1972-1973 here.
