Is this possible? I only have pale malt and CBA to wait for an order, and would like to get the brew on this Friday.
I've some Czech Saaz hops on order from CML, and I have their Kolsch yeast. If I go with this option I wonder if this would need to be fermented at an ale temp say 18-20c, then conditioned at 3c for about 4-5 weeks. any thoughts on this approach?

Yeah it's possible, but what you'll have is a kolsch rather than a pilsner. Ferment a little cooler if possible, around 16°.

Thanks guys for the advice. As it's fermenting at a lower temp is it advisable to add two packets of yeast? Have you tried the MJ Bavarian and Bohemian lager yeasts?

Czech pils has a nice body to it. What you've got will work really well and if you are aiming to get close to a Czech pils (without the decoction mash) it will help to mash high, around 68-69*C

CML Kolsch will ferment happily at 12° if double pitched. Their Cali yeast 14° double pitched. I've done a Ron Pattinson 1930's Barkley Perkins lager with the Kolsch yeast @ 12° and after cold conditioning it's great. I've also done another BP historic lager with CML California Common @ 14° and that's pretty lager like as well after cold conditioning, however I think I prefer the Kolsch yeast.
