Maybe not the right place but just to let anyone who may watch CraigTube the channel has been suspended as he states in this vlog
I've watched loads of his vlogs which are now in accessible as well as his vinyl channel but Craigtalk is still going if anyone is interested.
Seems like YouTube is shutting down loads of channels if you fart the wrong way at the moment.

Glad I'm not on Youtube then with my beer and mushy pea diet. Seriously tho' I've watched a lot of his stuff and have learned a lot over the years. Thanks Craigtube for passing on your knowledge.

I don't understand what it was suspended for? Seems hugely unfair.

It may be due to his other Vinyl channel and copyright.

He often did live plays of records and drummed along etc. However, he seemed to say that his channels were linked to the same Gmail account. So one went and the other got taken too. Can't imagine there was anything on Craig Tube to justify a ban.

The Performing Rights Society, who collect royalties on behalf of artists and go after people who they believe aren't paying their fair share.

I've always contended that they aren't exactly entirely open themselves as they insist that radio stations have a license that is based on listener numbers.

They insist that workplaces have a license if they broadcast the radio to their employees.

However, when calculating radio stations listener numbers, that includes people who listen at work. So, in my humble opinion, they collect the same 'fees' twice. Given how many of us actually do most if not all of our radio listening at work (or at least did pre pandemic) that seems to me to be a lot of double dipping!

At least that was the case back in the early 2000's when I wrote a blog post on it for a political website. Might have changed now. I'll shut up. :laugh8:

I also watch the Agadmator Chess Channel on You Tube and his got pulled last weekend because in chess, the white pieces move first, before the black ones. That really is a FFS moment.

For those of you who just want to enjoy the show, Agadmator was back up when last I looked.

This whole shebang has got way out of hand and if all they can do is pull words from dialogue to try and change things its never going to happen. People need to be respected and be respectful of others if this is going to happen and pulling vids on YouTube ain't going to make a massive difference as it will go on regardless.

I feel sorry for the guy and used to find his videos interesting but not backing up his videos was a schoolboy error and why is he still using Youtube he should tell them to go **** themselves and he should use a youtube competitor to post videos on and let everyone know what happened.

The accounts were 2 separate accounts and both got suspended.

Watch his channels to vinyl and brewing, not sure what he said or did, but he did play along to a copy righted song a few vlogs ago, or it could be the old eighties mullet pic that is hung in his vlog space... :laugh8:

Only watched his vinyl channel once but always watched CraigTube...

I've never watched any of his stuff but the fair usage policy on YouTube is a joke. I watch a lot of movie reviewers (Red letter media, YMS, Ralphthemoviemaker etc) and they're constantly having videos taken down or demonitised.

Just watched his video, he did a play along video of another artists song, he must have downloaded the clip and then re-purposed it so he could play along on the drums, he has done it a few times, but I think he will get his channel back, maybe...

You've got to see it from YouTube's point of view. They'd have disappeared years ago if they hadn't given copyright owners an easy ability to remove videos that rip off their property. (Or earn advertising fees from them).

I might not agree with all the laws. But if you don't follow the house rules then you can't be surprised when you get chucked out.

He has released music himself, over many years, he should have got a feeling that they would stop him.

Lots of twitch (amazon owned) streamers have got DMCA notices recently too with regards to them playing music in the background. I wonder if it's the big companies competing against each other more and using more aggressive algorithms to detect the use of music etc
