Cheshire Cat
Landlord.
But Boris said yesterday that it was safe for kids to go back to school. He’s going to make an announcement at 8pm.
Every day feels like looking into a magic 8 ball..
I have some sympathy. It's a novel virus, the situation is moving rapidly, and this government has been left up the creek without a paddle thanks to multiple previous governments in the past decade ignoring the threat of pandemic being in the top few items on the risk register. The NHS has been at 'breaking point' every winter for the past few years, seemingly without anyone caring. It was only going to take a particularly nasty flu or norovirus variant to push it beyond that, let alone a novel virus.
On the other hand I worry about the long term damage done to children by closing schools, and the lives that will be lost due to the loss of people's livelihoods thanks to what will ultimately be 12+ months of lockdowns. I wonder whether the long term number of deaths caused by each additional level of lockdown will eclipse those saved in the short term.
Bloody hell, Gerryjo. It sounds like you're having the worst possible time of it. Hang in in the my man. There's no single right way I agree with you, but I think there's a wrong way and that's the one that uncaringly puts others at risk. Hope you've knocked off for the day and are about to pour a pint. I'll have one with you. This virus has already left its mark and will do so for generations to come and its not even in full swing yet.
There is no right or wrong way of dealing with it as we all have different perspectives of life and how we live it but at the moment we all have to deal with it due to our own scenarios and each person is as vulnerable as the next be them a carrier or victim but there has to be a point when we all have to face the fact the we continue living be it how we may. I'm struggling, wife, kids, siblings, mother, inlaws, friends, work colleagues and its a drain on our mental health.
I work with a lot of people and we all cross shifts but our company has put measures in place that help minimise covid cases which helps but the risk is still there and they haven't furloughed anyone.
A work colleague lost his father and brother both to covid and is now taking panic attacks and is not coming back to work as he is petrified.
There is no happy ending here only survival and nature's law is fight for your survival but fight for yourself and not against others as this only makes us bitter and angry and we get nowhere.
Unfortunately I'm getting ready for my run of four nights but shall certainly have a pint at the weekendBloody hell, Gerryjo. It sounds like you're having the worst possible time of it. The problem is "no enforcement". Without effective enforcement, many people will ignore the rules. These idiots should be given hefty fines for ignoring the rules as a lesson to others.
Coronavirus: Police 'appalled by breaches' at Rivington Pike
Mr Harrison warned "fines would be forthcoming" if people continue to ignore coronavirus restrictions.
This is something I can't understand as they will take time and report it but can't be bothered to get out and give some tickets...The problem is "no enforcement". Without effective enforcement, many people will ignore the rules.
I am a head teacher.Pretty sure that you wouldn't say that if you or anyone you care about worked in a school
HilariousI am a head teacher.
I know I couldn't believe it myself, fluked the interview and a good mate is on the board of governors. He is still trying to claim free beers off me.Hilarious
