Me again, hope your all well and enjoying the fruits of your labour on the brewing, my cider really makes my legs wobble, right back onto the subject, if you read my other posts you will see I have just got back into home brewing and just swapped to Corny Kegs for my Kegerator Build and wow anyone thinking of tredding this well travelled path go for it, who thought a bit of gas would impreove my enjoyment of my brews so much really loving it.

I was warned that my keg habit could/would get out of control and Im already on planning buying more, so I intend to transfer straight from my FV to my keg to store and conditioion so a couple of questions:

1. How much PSI do I put it to to store ready for use?
2 How long will it last in this state?,

I know the longer I leave it it may lose flavour but to be honest that will probably never be a problem hear as all the lads I work with have seen my Kegerator build on Facebook and already want a session and BBQ once we can all come out to play.

Also fancy ago at pressure fermenting in a keg, so think I would need to buy another gas post as dont want to cut dip tubes and a float so it takes the beer from the top, anything I have missed?

1. Just enough to seal the lid shut. I normally do that with about 30 psi. Then I would vent and refill with gas 4 or 5 times to purge out the oxygen.

2 it will last month's like that, pale hoppy beers will slowly loose the hop profile (drink them up fast) strong, dark beers and ciders will get better with age (up to a point). However leaving then not carbed up or not hooked up means you will still have to do this later. Alternatively you can get them carbed up to how you like them then leave then for however long you need. I would just hook them up to the right pressure and leave it as is untill keg is empty. PSI depends on beer style temp and preference.

3 you don't need another post you can just take yours off take out the dip tube and add in a floating draw off, then swap and change as you please.

it is really important to purge the air out of your corny keg after you have filled it. Initially pressure the beer with CO2, then “burp” the air out of the safety valve of the corny keg and get it back up to pressure with CO2 to form a layer over the beer. If you leave air in the corny keg the beer will go off over time - it will start to taste like wet cardboard.

In terms of pressure, I set mine at 8psi and leave it. It will be carbed after a week. This carbs it up and gives the beer just the right amount of fizz for a bitter and a great head. It will keep for months like this.
