Hey, just about to bottle mexican cerveza this coming sat, gonna put tequila essence into 8 bottles (5ml per bottle) see how it tastes. My next venture will be Coopers Stout and was thinking bout going for 2 cans of stout, 500grm brown sugar and 500g extra dark spraymalt. Anyone tried to ferment this way if so your advice would be greatly appreiated :D

I had a go at something similar to THIS

That is what i used as a base but replaced the coffee with cocoa powder (500g i think). Mine is very bitter but it is still young at 3.5 months old so we will see how it is at christmas.

Just be aware of what you're adding...

Assuming a 40 pint brew:

The two kits should give you enough sugar for about 4.5-5%
The extra kilo of dried stuff is going to push that to 6.5-7%

But you will be adding double the bittering too so beware. FWIW I think the coopers I did (straight according to the instructions) was really mellow and nice so if you like 'em a bit more bitter then you should be fine.

That may well not be such a problem as you increase gravity you have to increase bitterness to compensate the perceived sweetness of the higher gravity. BU/GU rations may well stay constant but there is no way of knowing as the can will not have any IBU info on.

:hmm: In that case the OPs recipe should work pretty well with the coopers being not too bitter to start with...

Give it a whirl, specialisthomebrew, and let us know how it turns out!

also don't forget to put your FV into a container/bucket of some sort because coopers stout is noted to give of a volcano type spew and putting two kits together will erupt i'm sure :thumb:

VERY good point! It's bad enough with ONE can...
