I have been fermenting a Cooper's English Bitter beer kit from their international series and it has smelt like fruit during the fermentation process.
Is it normal to get this ester fruit smell from the Cooper's yeast strain, or is my beer bad?
It was fermented at about 20 C, temp wise. It was pitched at about 24 c, but settled to 20 C quickly for the last 6 days. It has just finished fermenting, but it still smells like fruit.
It is not an unpleasent smell, but it is more fruity than my other batch I am doing parrell to it - a Cooper's IPA (Cooper's yeast again).
Thank you.
