Afternoon! So I'm Bottling a wheat beer today and it is going to be a Strawberry one. I chose to go with syrup and condition with it too. The bottle says 64g of sugar per 100ml and I have tested the flavour and need 50ml per 500ml bottle. That equates to 32g sugar. I normally prime with half a teaspoon of sugar which is only 2g. The syrups going to be too much isn't it?

if you manage to get any bottles that have'nt exploded, make sure they are COLD,,,, and open slowly with a glass at the ready. You never know though, it might be ok. good luck :thumb:

If you have already primed them, I would say store them in a cardboard box inside a thick bag and only approach them when wearing a full face mask, gardening gauntlets and a thick waxed or leather jacket.
I suspect that if they don't explode spontaneously they might do so if disturbed, e.g. tapped while picking up etc.
If you haven't already primed them, you might have to do without quite so much syrup.
Could you put a shot of chambord or similar into the bottles to add a little fruit?

If you want a sweeter beer why don't you just add the syrup in the glass? That's basically what Fruli/Kopparberg/Brothers etc does, just without the complicated pasteurizing to put it on the shelves...

If it was me I would open them into an fv, and ferment it out, and start again. You are never going to open them and serve them, and you are risking serious damage, leaving them like that.

What ever you do take care you have got time bombs there.

Hi Dan

Please tell us you didn't bottle 40x500ml of beer with 50ml of strawberry syrup in each one.
If you did, go the post by GA and treat with care.
If not, as we all hope, suggest trying a teaspoon full, as per usual, for the priming.

Believe it or not, they have worked beautifully. I primed with 20ml. Its slightly lively, it fizzes just over the neck of the bottle but only a tad and nowhere near as bad as brothers always foams. The Strawberry is just right, rather than coming through thick and strong like a Fruli it's in the background a bit and after swallowing disappears to allow the beer flavour through. Keeps a head and has a great mouthfeel. I've attached a couple of pics, hopefully they're viewable.
