I have had a lager in the Barrel for around 5 weeks now and it's still cloudy, I ran off a little sample, it tastes great, has loads of life in it, but its still cloudy, I made the lager with enhancer & used finings yet its still cloudy, is this normal..if so I long can I expect to wait for it to clear????
:wha:

Hi CB

The yeast will eventually drop out but depending on the ambient conditions it may take a while. Each brew is different (even when you use the same yeast).

Did it look clear when you transferred into the barrel? If you transfer too early it can effect the time it takes to clear down.

Where are you storing the barrel? The colder the better. Summer isn't really a brewers friend as it is too warm.

If you are impatient you could try adding more finings but you will lose the pressure in the barrel and will have to top up again with CO2.

Hi there

It was fairly clear when I transfered to the barrell, I am storing it in a dark cuboard thats fiarly cool, I injected some C02 when I first sealed the barrell, so just itching for it to clear, the sample I had yesterday tasted great, and there was loads of life in the beer. All the beer I have bottled always clears within 2 weeks so not used to waiting! Thnaks for your reply :thumb:

The yeast hasn't got as far to drop in a bottle...
