Celotex thickness for fermentation cupboard in outbuilding

Anyone got any experience in what thickness celotex I would need to make a fermentation cupboard in an uninsulated wooden outbuilding, I could put chilling/heating in but ia it necessary to go to 100mm thick?

I seriously thought about this for my garage but then decided £35 for a tall larder fridge off eBay was a much cheaper and quicker option. Unless you need to configure it to customer measurements that is.

Appreciate that’s not the question you asked but I think it saved a lot of time and effort.

I just used 50mm polystyrene, with a tube heater, works great.

FRIDGE! Dead easy to set up if you have the spare funds....cost of fridge...2nd hand is fine or cadge one as I did...tube heater...£16 or so and inkbird...about £24..sort the inside yourself with any bits of wood you have to make a shelf for the fv. It really is easy..and very enjoyable!

100mm celotex will give you excellent insulation, if I were building a cupboard I would definitely use 100mm!

I used to work from home with composites building model aircraft etc.... I built a low bake oven in my workshop to heat stuff being moulded, and used 50mm celotex.
Worked extremely well! And with 2 tube heaters and a fan I could achieve a constant 70c if needed. I now use it for controlling fermentation temp as it's big enough to take anything really/

If you're doing your whole outbuilding, then you need to thoroughly seal it for best insulation. Drafts are bad! You can use aluminium sealing tape to good effect.
