Hi, I want to get into kegging but I cannot afford a full set up in one go. So can I just buy a corny keg this month and fill it with beer. Then next month buy the gas and fittings to carb and dispense. Or am I better to batch prime to keep the oxygen off the beer or is it OK to condition for a month then carb. Its just on the videos I've seen they fill the kegs with beer and then purge the air out.

While I have no experience of Cornies (disclaimer done), I believe you have to use a burst of co2 gas at the very minimum to seal the keg. So without gas it's a non starter.

Oh yeh forgot about that, thanks

I have recently started kegging. Whilst it is not particularly complicated and I have now got it sorted - it takes a bit of getting used to. So I would wait until you have all the kit, so you don’t introduce unneeded variables into the process.

Can u cool it only when needed I would only have a few on the weekend so if I were to go down this road ie kegging fo I have to keep it chilled

You could just chill it the night before you want to dispense but moving a keg around will disturb the sediment.

Any chance you could share a few words on your process? I've got a new batch of ale clearing down in my FV... I'm itching to christen my new 19 litre AEB corny with it, but I don't want to make any newbie errors - ta
