One of my dogs had to be put to sleep today

Here she is in her better days, on the right.

Neraly 14 years old, a good innings, but went downhill very quickly in the last 12 hours with heart and lungs failing her, so was put to sleep this morning

Awwww BigYin, my heart's breaking for you here.....I lost one very quickly too a couple of years ago, he was only 7 :(

Raise a glass to her and remember the happy times, I'm sure you gave her a great life - judging by that picture you did anyway :thumb:

Sad, sad day mate.

I'll raise a glass to her - and to you and yours this evening mate.

Memories live on!

Very sorry to hear that. It is a difficult thing to do, but at the end of the day it is what was best for your dog, and that is what is important. I am sure she had a good life and you can remember the good times.

:(
Been there :(
Had a "traditional" liver and white Springer, out with me every day in the Landrover for 13 years, did another two part time. ;) Didn't want another dog when her time was up ;) but "black" came along a few months later, needed re-homing, needed more than that, :) well I couldn't say no could I. Three years later we had "brown" but she is the darkest Springer you have ever seen, didn't want a liver and white even then, she is to dark sometimes, like a black cat in a coal cellar at night time. :) Another three years down the line might fancy a liver and white ;)
:(

Sorry to hear that BigYin, we had to make that decision a month ago, bearded collie, 14-and-a-bit, faded gradually over 6 months and was definitely becoming an old man but then went downhill rapidly. Vet agreed that “there comes a point when we can't fix'em anymore”. Not easy, but you can't watch them suffer.

Stunning scenery, looks like she had plenty of good walkies, what was her name?

She was called Smudge :drink:

Thanks for all your kind wishes - not been a very jolly evening in our house tonight

Smudge's sister - Misty - the other dog in my photo, is the same age and still going strong :D We're making sure we give her lots of attention because she's clearly missing her companion of almost 14 years

Its the one and only negative side of having one
As you say good innings and good memories
to Smudge

Sad to hear about the loss of a true friend BigYin... :(
We got a Labrador 2 years ago, to start with I was against the idea but got bullied into it with the wife and kids....
I now know how much love and friendship they give, I love her to bits... :thumb:
