Hi All

Just came across this news story ... Secret Drinker's home brew beer taste test (link) ... and felt like banging my head against a brick wall aheadbutt at the thought of just how much of all these homebrew ingredients that we're all finding so difficult to get hold of will be being used by inexperienced home brewers to make pretty poor beer that they'll consume FAR too soon ashock1

Such a shame that they aren't all turning up on the forums to benefit from the collective wisdom of the movement :confused.:

Cheers, PhilB

My order from geterbrewed was processed in a couple of days, despatched on 6th April and arrived at the Coventry depot of parcelfoce on 8th, where it has languished ever since.

I've messaged them asking when I may expect delivery, or if it's lost. I know patience is needed in these difficult times, however 10 days seems like it's fallen out of process.

Makes you wonder if the PO treats its staff shabbily...if they do they'll get shabby work out of most of them...
When I was a young man starting out in work, I had a boss who was one of the 2 brothers and cousin who owned the company. He was a good guy, but expected you to work properly and if you did he was good to you. He absolutely stunned me one day as he could be quite candid at times. He said the old adage that if you paid peanuts you got monkeys was true. However he said that sometimes people just acted like monkeys because they were paid peanuts, and were happy with that! And he then said that some roles really only required moneys anyway!
I was flabbergasted, but somehow understood he wasn't lying to me or trying to wind me up. Years later in retrospect, I realised he knew what he was talking about, and left those alone that were happy, and tried to develop up those that were capable.
It was a small company though, not of the scale of the PO.

The depot got in touch today. They are conducting a "Depot search" that may take a few days............................
I've already re-orderd from another vendor, who I believe uses a courier service. If the original turns up, it'll not come in wrong.

I'm sure the majority of us all dabbled first maybe after reading an article or similar then possibly speaking to another homebrewer and tried out of curiosity. Like everything else you get it by the bug and either love it or hate it though must admit I love making it and drinking it but certainly don't care for the in between bits but they have to be done..

Patience is a virtue and we'll all have to show a lot more especially with people locked down and even when they loosen the noose for until they find a vaccine people are going to be reluctant to venture out regardless as they will be very wary of others for a long time to come.
Bulk buy and plan in advance as I've just purchased a 3 roll mill and still have 35kg of crushed grain but when I get my slot I'll be ordering more grain whi h will be uncrushed and hops as well.
Fortunately I'm blessed with having the storage space to do so and I'm well aware of those that don't but if you can find a nook or cranny for that extra bit use it up even if it's just for yeast or if you know someone nearby who could help you out you could always reward them with a few of your wares.... Be safe.

Hmmm, Parcel Force contacted me to ask what was in my parcels so they could locate it in the depot. I responded with "what the hell has the contents got to do with you being unable to find it?" and made clear the irrelevance of that. They still stuck to protocol so I told them and that's the last I heard from them. Now weeks down the line.
I also reordered from Worcester Hop Shop, and they used UPS, who delivered exactly when they said they would.

Mine from Brew2Bottle arrive in Milton Keynes depot on 1st April. Brew2Bottle have chased them at least twice but still nothing. They are putting it down as lost and are now annoyingly out of stock so I can't reorder.

I appear to have struck lucky with GEB sending mine by DPD instead of the usual Parcelfarce looking at some of the posts on here!

Looks like The Malt Miller are back on top of things. I ordered yeast and some other bits yesterday (Sunday), they've been dispatched today and DPD have emailed to say they'll deliver tomorrow.

I saw GEB said on their website that they were looking at alternative delivery methods. With the current carry-on I decided not to distract them from their work to deal with me, who wished to influence said delivery method. I'd have re-ordered from them in a heartbeat if I could have chosen a delivery method on the website.

I saw b2b had stock I would have liked to have ordered, but also saw they use parcelforce, so decided to give it a miss.

Hi guys

Apologies for these issues, but once we hand a parcel over we can only pray some times. Parcel Force had some major issues last week with capacity coming out of Easter weekend. It took them 3 days to collect all of the pallets of deliveries we had ready for them coming out of a weekend of packing and trying to stay on top. We're currently processing orders with around a 24 hour delay from point of order to getting them shipped. Smaller orders that weigh around 4kg or less still ship with the Royal Mail. That said we're looking at switching our Parcel Force to DPD in the near future but last week they were also struggling to provide collection slots for the amount of parcels we have going out right now so it wasn't the time to make the change. Coming out of a weekend we can have upwards of 20 pallets of shipments ready for Parcel Force to collect on a Monday and countless cages for the Royal Mail. We'll keep monitoring this though and will switch over when the time is right.

Our store remains open for orders and we're in contact with suppliers daily for updates on product availability etc... We have deleveries in daily still and still stock is selling out faster than can be sent into us from suppliers. Production queues are huge but there is still a lack of availability on a lot of the popular kits in the UK.

Again apologies for issues as above but we're working to improve things constantly.
