So, I have a full day off from work and all I have done is trawl over the the LHBS, Wilkes and round tesco to see what goodies they had. Since getting home I have been so busy I only just realised that it's half 9

Anyway here's the bit you might care about.

I currently have 2 kilo of strawberries steeping in sugar water, pasteurised at 60c for 20 minutes then added a campden tablet anyway :wha:

I have double filtered 1.5L of wash and it's currently on its way through a third time.

Purchased myself a few goodies from the LHBS including a little bottler (£6.99 which is cheaper than eBay) a California coniseur (however it's spelt) 6 bottle white Zinfandel kit and a butlers ruby dessert (portovino style) wine.
Only problem I had was that I only had 23l bins so obviously had to buy two 5L bins to make them up in. Also bought some alcotec 23% which included the carbon and nutrient. Not going to push it to 23 though but as my 20% came out at 14 I'm hoping for better things.

The Porto is almost ready to pitch and the Zinfandel is done with an OG of 1090. The wash will be going on tomorrow along with a cervaza I've had for over a week and still not had time to make it up. Plus the strawberries will need straining and starting so another busy day tomorrow as well and fingers crossed it's all ok cos it will be my first non kit wine.

Hope your all having as much fun as me.

:drink:

I decided to quickly bottle my ciders before I made dinner. That was about 5.30. Next thing I know it's 10.45!

I now have ten bottles each of spiced, mixed berry, elderflower and oaked ciders, about a hundred clean de-labelled bottles for when I do beer in a few weeks time, and 5L of rosepetal cider waiting to have a second batch of rosepetals added, since the original petals gave no flavour at all.

Fingers crossed about 10Lbs of honey will be delivered tomorrow and I'll be able to start my meads. I'll be starting with a gallon of heather mead.

I keep saying I want to do a mead but im going to wait until summer when a friends bees will be busy working. He has a lot of lavender near him so it gives something else to his honey. Its to expensive from the shops
