Hey guys, I've had my Bulldog Brews Mixed Berry Cider Kit fermenting for 4 days now and the first 2 days it was fermenting like crazy the airlock wouldn't stop moving however now it has calmed down a hell of a lot with no bubbles rising from the centre of the liquid but some bubbles around the edges.

Just wondering if maybe fermentation has stalled or if the yeast have just smashed the job a lot sooner than the kits instructions say, it's kept at around 19c - 22c night/day which should be fine for the yeast?

Could someone please advise! :P

Don't worry about it until at least Day 14.

Unless you are an obsessive watcher of air-locks the yeast can still be working away quite happily without you even noticing; or the CO2 may be escaping from any other route available.

After Day 14, check the Specific Gravity and if it's at or lower than 1.010 it will be ready to bottle.

Enjoy! :thumb:

Dutto's right!

Bubbles in an airlock are not a guide to fermentation ... leave it for at least 14 days (no harm if longer) and then take a reading with your hydrometer.

No he's not!

Do not bottle it at 1.010 - you're asking for bottle bombs...

This and most other cider kits finish at 1.000 or lower...

Oops yes ... agree with you there about FG.

He's right about the rest of it though

Roger that guys, seems to be some activity but not as violent as it first started, I was expecting that to continue haha..
