Know what you mean Rod. My old plate chiller used to as well - we had to put elastic bands around the cam locks. Ugh! It's quite dangerous when you have boiling hot wort going through it and it suddenly pops - not to mention the loss of wort.

I'm not sure what the answer is - I bet someone will know though. In the meantime try elastic bands. It really does stop it coming undone.
Will do thanks for the tip, i am going to email them you should not to do this on a kettle that costs over 350 quid and pumping hot wort

There are definitely some things that Kegland could improve on for the next generation Brewzilla but it looks like they aren’t because they are making a lot of the parts and accessories backward compatible.

As for the recirculation arm, I’ve found that it becomes lose with any movement whatsoever. So I have become a Pavlovian dog, checking the camlock every time I touch it. So far so good.

And for the neoprene jacket, I did see that someone had a heavy duty zipped sewn on to the ends, which not only makes it a tad bigger but it’s also easier to fit. Because I agree, I hate it!

Yep rubber bands are a simple safety measure. Only took one unexpected spill to learn that any nudge loosened the lock mech. Maybe cutting an old bike tube into rings would make stronger, more durable bands...

And I've never removed the neoprene jacket as it was so hard to get on... 🙂

Got lots of cam locks through my setup and my BZ one is still quite stiff. It is something that will wear out over time, maybe you just need to replace the seal? If the seal is worn and compressed then maybe the cams cant fully close the fittings together and create a good seal and lock the cam lock arms in place. Other cam lock around my brewery come with little clips so you can clip them closed but the BZ doesn't come with that feature.

Shouldn't be too hard to replace with something else though, Its just pipework based on standard pipe fittings so you can configure with anything you like ultimately.

Also on the BZ neoprene jacket I find it has slackened off over time. I do remove it when chilling - no need for insulation when you're trying to chill the wort and it is now ealily a quick one person job to replace the jacket.

Is there a way to get rid of the cam lock, mine keeps popping open i am on the verge of hitting it with a very large hammer :D apart from this it is a great kettle
There is a reason they are called "cam-locks" they are supposed to lock into position. Wouldn't be good to get sugary hot wort sprayed over you. Make sure you do something about it.
Is it under warranty? Who's make is it?
