I use the hop rocket in two ways, on the hot side of the recirculate the 80C wort through it, then put it on the cold side of the CFC to filter the wort as it's transferred into the fermenter.
Very handy for atypical additions such as elderflower. Easier than taking the lid off the boiler with the condenser on and refitting and stops the immediate pump blockage that occurred when I lobbed the elderflower in freestyle.

Have you thought about a hop rocket/ missile or hop back ?
I find that I get extra flavour and aroma from the hops without any hops left in the kettle plus the fact it does filter the wort to some extent as well.
Just a thought
This note is from the Kegland site:

Please Note:
When using pellet hops, or if you have a large amount of trub and debris it may compact and impede the flow of the Hop Missile. To help prevent this, installing a pre-filter in your pot is recommended to prevent excessive quantities of material from entering the hopback. We also highly recommend using rice hulls in combination with hop pellets to aid in wort passing through the Hop Missile.

TMM HopRocket, spec: capicity is 85g (3oz) for whole hops only (or 113g with extra insert).
So it wouldn't cope with the hop amount in some recipes, even if the hops needed were available whole.

@peterpiper you make a very valid point however I have used mine regularly with 100g + hops (pellets) and it works fine.
In fact I recently brewed a Tribute clone kit from TMM and used 150g of whole leaf in the whirlpool without incident.
I suppose if you were using 200 grams and were worried you could split them and do it in several charges. I’m not saying that it is perfect but it is just another option to consider.
Here is a review by David Heath

I'd love to be able to put my wort through the hop rocket every time with a few whole cones in.
They are rarely available here in NZ....
Unless buying pellets, choice here (Scotland) is quite limited.
A few varieties are usually available as whole hops. But for the others I like, I'll often buy in advance, if I notice they're available.

That's usefull to know, as I've never tried a HopRocket.
Whole leaf seems much easier to use.
I've never reached 200g (yet).

Almost nine years since the vote, most of us have moved on, just a few stragglers holding us back, sorry DD i can't help it have a beer or 3 and try to look forward :laugh8:acheers.athumb..

The point I was making was that because we are no longer in the EU, it makes little difference whether their stuff is coming from China or somewhere in Europe.

Looking forward doesn't magically bring back free trade. It's not something I have any plans to move on from. Any party that will look at improving our trading relationships with the EU gets my vote. Our economy has suffered massive damage as a result of the feckless endeavour, and ultimately it's businesses and your average man in the street that suffers from higher costs.

I'm glad that there are still some out there that are happy with it though.

You must mean Europes biggest economy Germany, it's on its knees and were we still in we would be paying through the nose to keep them ticking over

Yes, Germany's economy is not in great shape at the moment, but that doesn't change the fact that Brexit has cost us, and will continue to cost us hundreds of billions in lost trade. And like I say, it's not the Nigel Farages of this world that it affects. It's you and I.

All power to you if you're happy with that. I'll continue to to be ****** off at such an avoidable own goal.

Good article on it today actually.

On the topic of grain bags @Barone, I have tried it both ways. Inside the basket was a better experience than outside, but even with a good quality 400 micron brew bag draining the bag was slow and frustrating. What would you be trying to achieve by going "Brew In A Bag" as opposed to "Brew In A Basket"?

Can I make BIAB in the Brewzilla gen 4 automatic pan ? Would the grain bag be inside or outside the malt basket?
The only time I've used a BIAB in my gen 4 was to use up the fine crushed grain that I already had for BIAB.
I used the bag inside the basket and it worked fine.
I won't use a bag again unless I have grain that is crushed too fine.
