Hello everyone,

First time brewer and I thought I would start of with the above and I think I have ruined it already.

Went through all the steps etc but I may have used to much sugar as I used 500g of Light Dry Malt and 1KG of normal granulated sugar :whistle:

Have I totally messed it up?

welcome to the forum your brew wont be ruined it will just be a little stronger in alcohol but not much

Thank you 31bb3, I was thinking it was going to totally ruin it.

Do you know how long I should ferment it before putting it in the other barrel?
 
did you take a starting reading with a hydrometer you need to leave it about 10 days then check the gravity i reckon it should read about 10.12 ish leave it another couple of days and check it again if its still the same then transfer into your bottles or keg with some sugar to carbonate iit leave it in the warm for another week then move it somewhere cooler to clear

I will be getting one tomorrow so should I check it then or wait 10 days?

id leave it now tbh try not to open the fv for a few days you should see signs for fermentation in the next day or 2 the lid will dome up slightly or you will get bubbles out of the airlock if you have one fitted

Does it still need carbonating if it's a stout?
 
I have left it over night and the beer has loads of froth on top of it, it has caused to lid to bend a bit with loads of froth coming out of the air lock, is this normal, is the room temp to high?
