I recently purchased a few things online, brewing sugar was one of them. When i opened the box, which was battered, there was a little bit of sugar on my other items. I looked at the bag more carefully and there was a small hole in the bag. Question is, would it still be ok to use? Would it be risky to use?

When we use sugar, the paper bags aren't actually 'sealed' as such are they.

Thanks

It'll be fine as long as it wasn't damp :thumb:
Spoilage organisms find it hard to grow on sugar as it dessicates the cells ;)

Sugar is a preservative, as its something bacteria are not fond of.

Even if it was contaminated if you dissolve it in boiling water I doubt it would cause you much trouble.
