Whats everyones brewing resolutions for 2014?

mine is to brew more and make my brewing more consistent, I had a couple of months where I had to buy in  and sometimes my beer is good but not great.

all the best for 2014,

storm

I want to brewing AG at some point next year. I get married in April so no spare pennies to get the necessary kit until after that.

Hope everyone has a good one!

You expect to have spare pennies once you've been wifed? :wha:

My brewing resolution for this year is to find enough space to store it all. This means both more glass DJs for long-term storage of wines, and somewhere to put them - which means persuading my landlord to finally get rid of the ancient hot water tank that hasn't been used for almost twenty years. I also hope to at least double my production of cider and beer, although the beer will still all be based on kits since where I live right now is unsuitable for BIAB or AG :(

I only make one resolution every year and I always stick to it until 30/31 December every year. :hmm: My resolution is to not make any resolutions.

Now that you say that :(

I'm hoping I'll get permission to use a little of the sum we're currently saving every month to upgrade my kit.

Mine is to go back to basics and focus on efficiency, clarity and my general brewing process.

I've done a lot of fun and big beers this year but I feel they could have been better (and the efficiency on my last one was way out) so going back revisiting the basics with some small simple beers will be no bad thing.

I would also like to learn about water treatment so will be getting a Murphy's report soon.

My new year brewing resolution is to have a go at making wine and maybe cider....

You can't stick it out a year, you break it as soon as you make it

Having just installed a new kitchen, I believe the bathroom is next on my to do list :) New curtains went up last month!

I could always try and play the "but we've saved loads of money because I've done all the work myself" card...Not.

I will try to brew more beer than is needed instead of more beer needed , it only takes 1 bad batch ( or poor ) and miss a few brew days and before you know it you have to buy beers in . By next week i shall have 4 kegs mostly full .

For me it's to never buy beer in 2014 other than funky boutique things I want to try. Obviously I work for a brewery so I get some boxes each month for nowt.....but they don't count!

Going to brew a new style at least once a quarter.

Got to nail a "house brew" that I will always have.

Make a wine.

Loose 3 stone.

That's it.

This is almost word for word what I was going to say!
I've got comfortable with the process and now perhaps don't concentrate on the basics like I did in the first few brews and the results have been a little more variable than perhaps they should be!

That's one of my goals this year. I'm currently 15st (210Lbs/95kg) down from a peak of 16st (225Lbs/102kg) and my goal is 11.5st (160Lbs/72.5kg) however during previous attempts I've always hit a plateau at 12.5st (175Lbs/80kg). My deadline is the middle of August.

Misery loves company, as the saying goes - are you looking for an online slimming partner?

Sort out the 66% efficienccy that has annoyed me for the last 18 months of so with my brew kit :(

I think I know where the majority of the losses come from (dead space), it's simply how to fix them for less than the efficiency gain would save me....

Do you mean brew house efficiency?

If be happy with that number! 55% for me.
