Brew in a Bag - what about the bag?

Just about to start my first ever all grain brew - a small stove-top batch brewed in a nylon bag sold for the purpose by a home brew shop.

When I'm done - what's the best way to clean and preserve the bag for the next time?

I rinse mine off with a hose, shaking out a few times to get the remains off. Then soak in VPW solution for a few hours before rinsing in clean water.
It's a good idea to use the bag inside out so the grain doesn't stick in the seam.

Also rinse out with a hose. Then work it in a sink of hot water and hang up to dry.
Before using it again I soak it in a jug of boiling water.

I use mine as a straining bag only, when I'm doing stove-tops, but I guess it gets just as messy. I just empty the grain, give it a good shaking. Rinse it in a bowl of water. shake it again and hang it up to dry. Don't see the point in sterilising it as everything gets boiled afterwards.

Yeh you're right not really necessary, but I always have a bucket of VPW made up on brew day to sterilise as I go along so the bags get bunged in at the end for a soak.

I agree, but I even rinse the boiler out with a kettle of boiling water before I fill it with cold for the mash. Just a habit really. Same with the bag and the thermometer and my stirring paddle.

When I did biab I would let dry on the line, shake and knock all the dried grain off and then put on a low temp wash in the washing machine but with NO detergent

A quick rinse and flick, hang up to dry and give them to Granny to put back on. She'll be feeling a bit of a draft by now, I shouldn't wonder.

Just used to wash off the grains and bung it in the washing machine and every now and again gather up the bag with various hop sock and give it a good 60 degree wash cycle. No need to sterilise but I wanted to make sure all the remnants and soil from previous mashes were removed.

I hand-wash mine, with laundry liquid stuff. But first I wash them through with umpteen rinses in water to get rid of husks, etc. Then I well rinse with more water after washing, and put VWP in the final rinse instead of fabric conditioner. Then hang them out on the line.
