No, I'm not attempting a clone, it's my AG#11, or (in a Yorkshire accent) Eee, leaven.
Sorry, but I'm not getting my coat just yet.
The plan was 6kg of pale plus various oddments I wanted to use up, but I calculated that would give me around 35 litres, which is neither one thing or another if I'm to use two buckets, so I've broken into my fresh sack for some more pale.
Grain bill:
7kg Pale malt
364g Caramalt (end of bag)
250g Dark crystal
250g Pale oat malt
137g Chocolte malt (ditto)
Revised plan is about 42 litres
I was a tad concerned that 8kg of grain and 20 litres of water wouldn't fit in my 30 litre coolbox, but it did, with a couple of litres of leeway. A late start for me, lid went on around 9:20am, 67.5°C.
Let's just say that I fortuitously acquired a quantity of stainless steel mesh. :thumb:
Someone threw it away. :wha:
In a skip!
I rescued it.
I will add photos later, you may be slightly surprised.
I cut myself a piece of this mesh, folded it in half, crimped the edges together around my existing hop stopper, and secured the open end with a cable tie as I couldn't find any stainless jubilee clips down the cellar but know I've got a few on the boat. It doesn't look too pretty but if it works I've got more than enough mesh for a Mk.2 ,3, 4, 5 ...,, 18, 19, 20.... I was thinking of cutting it into useful strips and giving it away at the Spring Thing.
35 minutes left on the mash and sparge liquor's up to 68° :thumb:
