Strange I expected PET Bottles to get at least a mention.

Are they "not up to the job" ? I am currently buying Aldi Sparkling Lime and Lemon Water and emptying the bottles contents into my Yorkshire container (i.e. myself). I was then going to botlle 20 ish litres of Wherry into them

They are for sale on most Hime brew sites but will mine not be strong enough ?

Sorry to ask a question about a question rather that offering an opinion on it

I quite like a Magners or Bulmers cider this time of year. I like the shape of their bottles for home brew so I usually try and buy a box when it's on offer to drink and then repurpose the bottles for my hobby 🙂

Has anyone tried capping the budweisser screwcap crown bottles? Neighbours left some for me, the capper seems to work fine on them and the screwoff function seems to work on Them but not tried Them under pressure?

wherrypuzzled - see my post 20 - PET are fine and they act as pressure gauges so I bottle into two 1 litre ones, the rest into swing tops

Fliptop here, but also used caps. Tip: buy a bench capper. And be careful with some secondhand bottles, not all of them are meant for reuse.

I bought bottles from my local brew club for £10 for 20, I use franziskaner bottle to give away once I've drunk them, the beauty of have all the same bottles when using a bench capper is no having to adjust all the time.

I have EVERY type of bottle 2 litre grolsch standard grolsch, 750 660 500 330 300 swing tops and regular bottles that need crown caps plus 1 and 2 litre PET bottles......I have an adjustable height bench capper with home made 3 mm spacers so life is good...........
Crikey! You are well sorted. I will get there one day.........

I use 500ml brown PET bottles now and then, they are great as a quick way to see if a beer has carbed up. With regards to reusing bottles if they previously held a carbonated drink Incannot see any issues with reusing them, ass they are clear plastic you would ideally what to store the, somewhere dark, with minimal or no exposure to sunlight.

I mostly use glass bottles or kegs as they are easy to clean and can be reused almost indefinitely as long as they are undamaged and are good for beers you want to store long term. But for a session beer like Wherry which will be drunk within a few months I cannot see any real issues with using these.

I like to use the 500ml. amber swing top bottles from Brew2Bottle. I must have hundreds of them.. They're only £12.95 for 15 and I use them over and over again.. I'm sure in the long run they will save you time, money and frustration..
