Bottle storage

In regards to storing batches of beer I've aquired some handy trays that can accommodate around 28 bottles (on their sides) and are stackable - will I do my beers an injustice in storing my bottles horizontally in ye olde garden shed (after an initial month of vertical storage to allow some yeast settling) :hmm: ?

The sediment will move and will re-settle on the sides, making it a bit more tricky to pour.

Besides that, I know crown caps have got a rubbery plastic lining, but lying them on their sides for any length of time doesn't seem right somehow.

That's ok. I found some three year old beer the other day that had survived a house move and was on it's side in a box. The cap was fine.

It's the sediment, as you said, that you need to worry about.

Thanks guys - I guess I'll have to re-think my strategy :wha: - the storage problem is a right old so and so.
As for storing in crates, would you consider it dangerous to stack these in a pile of four if the beer bottle tops are taking the strain of one crate on another (as they are taller than the crate sides) and if so what would be a healthy stress load that the bottles could take? :wha: :pray:
