Going to do a betterbrew irish stout this weekend.Adding 1kg of muntons extra dark DME.Thinking of doing a hop tea of fuggles and steeping some chocalate malt.Am I going over the top?or should I keep it simple?Anyone out there done a betterbrew Irish stout before?.Knowledge is power! :drink:

I don't know whether you really need that extra hop flavour and bitterness for a stout? Up to you I suppose, a matter of personal taste!

If you are using extra dark DME, then you probably won't need the choc malt, and the hops will probably get masked - most Stout hops tend to go in at the start for bittering only - there isn't normally a big hop flavour.

Up to you though - it might turn out nice!

Think your both right about the hops, will keep em for a batch of bitter.Think I will have a go at steeping about 250g of choc malt as I have not attempted it before.Would love a report on this kit by someone, all the other BB kits ive done have been cracking!
